Can I simply plant the green berries to propagate the asparagus fern? Do they need to dry out first?

They will need to turn red first. This will signal that they are ripe. You can propagate these from seed pretty easily with some patience. This is an ornamental asparagus, and will have the same propagation method as its edible cousin.
