Q.Are My Leyland Cypress Trees Dying?

Zone 07731 | Anonymous added on June 28, 2022 | Answered

I have 12 Leyland Cypress trees planted two years ago along one side of my yard where they get full sun. Three of them are turning brown, mostly on the inside but I’m afraid it’s advancing toward the front. I have attached a photo. Is this normal or are the trees dying and if so, what can I do to save them? Thanks very much.

You may have had some unusual weather, either last winter or this spring. If all of your growing conditions are suitable for these trees, they may have contracted a disease. Here's a helpful article: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/leyland-cypress/leyland-cypress-diseases.htm

If you can't pin it down with this info, I would suggest calling a certified arborist or your local agricultural extension service for some advice.
