Q.Anna Apple and Peach Tree in Pheonix, Az

Zone phx az | sirbub1 added on August 19, 2012 | Answered

My apple and peach tree bloomed and bore fruit, then all foliage fell off and they look dried out. I put them in afternoon shade, picked up the water schedule, and they have not recovered. They are dwarf container trees. The lemon, lime and orange are doing well. The same happened to one of my grape plants. All organic soil, fertilizer is fish emulsion. Any help?

Container trees need significant amounts of water. In temps under 85F in the summer, they should be watered daily and deeply. In temps over 85F, they should be watered 2X a day. If you were not watering this often, I would recommend upping their watering to this scheduled. Citrus are a little more forgiving of the heat, but you may find if they have not been getting enough water that when they do get enough water, the citrus trees will drop their leaves as well. They are odd like that - when too dry, they do not drop their leaves until after they stop being dry.
