Q.Anemic Basil

Anonymous added on June 28, 2011 | Answered

I am growing basil in a pot on my deck. This year it is really anemic. It’s growing tall, leggy, and more and more yellow. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. My deck has a southern exposure and this year our weather has been thunderstorms for days then extremely hot – 90s. Is there a fertilizer or nutrient that might help?

The heavy rains have probably leached nutrients from your pot. Apply an all purpose fertilizer -water soluable will probably be more efficient- and clip the plant back to encourage side growth and fullness.
