Q.Added Question to my Aphid Problem

Zone 6 | nawnie1 added on August 18, 2015 | Answered

I love that I can ask questions about my garden and my plants…you sent me an email about the Aphids on my milkweed. The article stated that they hate garlic. Can I sprinkle some dried garlic around the bush to get them off my bush or would that be to strong for the beneficial insects? And again, thank you for all your help. Oh and also I have Asian ladybugs. Can they help also?

We are glad that we are able to help with your gardening questions.

You can make a garlic spray by soaking garlic bulbs in water and then spraying the aphids.
Neem Oil is a good option as it won't harm people, pets or bees!
Asian Beetles will not help with Aphids.

Here is a great link with information on Asian Beetles.
There is really not a good alternative to control other then harmful chemical sprays.
