Q.Acer Palmatum Japanese Maple Tree Is Turning Brown Across The Top. Is This Normal?
Our Japanese maple is turning all brown and yukky across the top. Its a very short tree with large trunk. Is this a normal thing in the Fall and Winter? This tree is new to us as it was on the property when we bought the house. Don’t know how to care for it. Thank you.

The Japanese maple is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves. It does look a bit scraggly on top so I would check for insects. It also could be sun damage. Japanese maples prefer morning sun and afternoon shade. You will need to water it regularly. If it's a fungal disease, the best thing you can do is pick up the fallen leaves and dispose of them in the trash. That will help avoid a recurrence next year. These articles will help you take care of it.
