A Special Plant For Torquay

Hello I am hoping you can help with my quest to find a Maltese plant that will flourish in Torquay. I am looking to buy a plant/tree preferably something flowering – for a wedding gift for a very close friend who got married in Malta during the pandemic. Due to travel restrictions no one could attend the wedding. I would like to be able to find something that will give them that Mediterranean feel and serve as a reminder for many years to come of their wedding day. Is there a beautiful plant, native or common to Malta which will also thrive in Torquay? Kind regards  Catharine

How about the strawberry tree, native to the Mediterranean region, or an olive tree or sweet bay, also Mediterranean natives.
