2 Bay Trees Both In Pots, We Have Had Them Many Years In Very Large Pots Outside. But Both Have Leaves Gone Brown But Not All And

actual bush on both gone much thinner. We have transplanted both in ground as very pot bound,they seem to look better after a few days. can you give best advice to treat these bay trees?
