Our house is near the beach, so the yard has stones instead of grass. Every year weeds come up all over the yard and every year I pull them out. What can I use that's environmentally safe? It should probably be a spray of some kind?
This link may offer some help.

I would like to know about this weed. It is too hard to remove it. Is there any efficient way to kill it?
This looks like a Pachysandra weed.

How long does it take for Roundup to leach into the water table - 200 feet down? Does it harm living "things" on the way down? What is the danger to animals who eat the sprayed weeds? Are you supported by any chemical manufacturer?
I'm afraid these questions are out of my expertise. Much research has been done and continues to be in the forefront of environmental concerns.
We are not supported by any chemical manufacturer.
I have listed a few links for you, but the list of research that is available is very long.

Does vinegar really work at killing weeds?
It can work in the right situations.
I myself had luck using it in my walkways. Use full strength in full sun on crab grass, dandelions and even bind weed.

Your writer Teo Spengler recommended Chinese Parasol Tree as an alternative to Crepe Myrtle. YIKES!! that is a nightmare invasive species in LA and other southern states. BEST DO SOME RESEARCH ...RETRACT AND EDUCATE YOUR READERS PROMPTLY.
In some warmer climates the tree can be invasive, but many gardeners have great success with this tree.
Thank you for your input.
I have weeds all over my property in Southern California in (approximately 3/4 acre) When I had a smaller property weed control was my hands and garden tools. My new property is so large the weeds are taking over. Have you tested various types of non-toxic weed control (like 20% vinegar/dish soap/salt) with the results? It would be extremely appreciated to have a list of tried and true/fail experiments, so I could get my property under control. Sincerely, Dawn Nichols
Check out using corn meal. It works as a pre emergent herbicide and is non toxic. It shouldn't harm existing plants, but will reduce the number of weed seeds that germinate. I think there is a commercial pre emergent herbicide that is corn meal based for large areas, but I don't know if it has other components.
I may help to identify the specific weeds that you are trying to eradicate in your garden.
I would encourage you to contact your local County Extension Office to inquire on weed control of weeds specific to your area.
