About a month ago, I planted a spiral evergreen shrub in my front yard island. I followed the planting instructions on the tag, but the tree has only gotten drier and drier and not going to last much longer. I water every other day. The ground in this area is pretty hard, so I dug a 2 foot wide circle for the 1 foot wide base of the shrub and filled the hole with a garden, mulch like compost. I am out of ideas and I am a beginner gardener.
It is possible that there are air pockets in the soil that are affecting the roots. I would step firmly on the root balls to help collapse any air pockets. Flood the area with water to help fill them in. Up its watering as well. It may also have a fungus disease, so I would treat the plant with a fungicide.
It seems to strip the hedge and leave white fungus.
Pretty hard to say what it is with no description or picture. I will say that when people see a "white fungus," 9 times our of 10, they're seeing mealy bugs, scale, or aphids. And a heavy infestation will cause all the leaves on many plants to drop. So I'm going to give you an article on these pests, so you can see if that might be what you have, and what to do about them:

My new puppy has pulled several branches off of a small bush/tree. The trunk has been stripped in some areas. I cannot identify the bush/tree at the moment. It is just starting to bud. The trunk is green (no bark).
Here is an article on tree repair that will help you:

I have a double hedge and it's turning brown. I water it and wet it with no luck, yet I have it in two cement pots (two hedges).
What type of hedge is it - I can better assist you if I know what it is. Was this a recent planting? What kind of light does it receive (full sun, part shade, etc.) How often have you been watering it? Is there drainage in your cement pots? Please get back to me with the answers to these questions and I will be happy to help!
How high should our front yard and side yard shrubs be? I think no higher than the 6 foot fence surrounding the backyard. Our neighbor's shrubs are 8 to 10 foot and look wild.
You may want to check with your local city ordinances regarding this matter.
Neighborhood Associations also generally have guidelines for home owners.
Just noticed this, as it came on the last two weeks.
I do not see an image attached to your question.
This could be a nutrition deficiency.
Here is a link that explains this.

I made a mistake. A few weeks ago I was cleaning my flower bed from weeds and putting on mulch. I also sprayed a weed killer solution trying to spray the soil only, but seeing now that all my shrubs have lost all of the leaves, tells me that I may have sprayed on the shrubs. I am not sure if they will survive or not. I cut the tips of some branches and they are still green inside. What can I do to revive or make my shrubs to grow leaves once again after unintentionally spraying weed killer on them? Btw, I live in Texas (hot) and we just started the summer.
Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do other than maybe trying to flush out the area with water, including your shrubs. Run water over them to remove any residue that may be on them and the surrounding area. As long as the stems are still alive, then they should eventually regrow their leaves.
