Can I grow rose mallow in large containers?
This will prove to be somewhat difficult unless you container is very large, At least 8 gallons, and Deep enough to support the root system. These can get quite large. It is possible, but can be somewhat difficult. Here is an article that will give you more information on the plant: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/lavatera/growing-lavatera-rose-mallow.htm
Is it at all possible to at least slightly change color or a rose mallow? I recently bought - what looked like a lighter color reddish color flower from the info/picture on the planter. But they are coming out a deep red. Both plants are very healthy but I really wanted a lighter color, is there any way I can at least lighten the color at all? Like a hydrangea? Thank you, Dee.
The color may have intensified because of the temperature, sunlight or nutriton and might become lighter like you hoped. This article explains:

Possibly a greenish, hibiscus sawfly larvae damage. Early on humid mornings, you can find their greenish larvae on the bottom of the leaves, chewing between veins. Because they are not caterpillars, they cannot be controlled using organic pesticides like Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) but you could try spinosad (apply when bees are not active). For a bad infestation, you can also try hand squashing, insecticidal soaps or a systemic insecticide like Imidacloprid. They are most effective if you start applying in May-June per label directions. The damage is typically aesthetic only and would not normally kill the plant.
