I have a rhododendron. The leaves are hanging down and withered on plant, looks like some growth on the end of some stems. Is it a bud? What can I do to bring this back if it can be done?

How do I get rid of gray or gray black moss-like disease on trees and rhododendrons?
It sounds like you may be referring to lichen. Lichen normally does not cause any problems for plants, other than making them somewhat unattractive. What can I do to save it?
About all you can do is prune it back and it should regrow as long as the roots are still fine. Other than this, you may need to do something about the deer. This article might help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/deer/deer-repellents.htm
We recently purchased purple rhododendron. It blossomed with several large purple/magenta blooms. We then had to cover it due to a frost at night. In the morning, it was still magenta. Went away for two days and upon return, all the blossoms turned pale pink. Why - from covering or weather?
Did you keep the plant covered for the two days you were away? This would be the reason for your shrub's color lightening up, as it was cut off from the natural light it receives. When covering plants, you need to promptly remove the covering in the morning, only replacing as needed during the night. Throughout the day the plants should be left uncovered.
What is wrong with my Rhododendron plants? They have stopped flowering. I'm following the tips from the garden centre, NO GOOD.
It is probably a phosphorous deficiency. Add a phosphorous rich fertilizer or bone meal to the soil around the plants. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/soil-fertilizers/phosphorus-plant-growth.htm
