Yes, it needs to be pruned. The following links are to articles that will help you learn how to prune and care for your kaffir lime:

What size pot is best for kaffir lime tree? And pink lemon tree ? And olive tree? All for indoor/patio growth.
That size is up to you, and how much work that you are willing to do to keep them alive! Larger pots, say 20 gallons or so, will not require much work. The trees will remain happy in a large container, as long as you scale up over a few years time.
If you would like to keep it in something more like 5 or 10 gallons, then you will need to do some root pruning every 5 years or so. This isn't hard to do, but it does require care. Since you will be cutting large roots, it will be necessary to mitigate any disease before it happens. Fungicides and biofungicides will be a good idea.

My kafir lime tree is about 3-5 years old. It’s in a pot on my patio. All of a sudden some of the leaves are paper than others and have tiny speckles. Also my looks like most of spray paint. See attached photo. Thanks!!
Infections are hard to pin down, and citrus are prone to many of them. It will be best to prune off any heavily infected leaves, and treat with a fungicide. This article will help:

Hi there I have a Kaffir tree at home in the garden and I noticed there are new leaves growing out and they are dark brown colour. Is it normal? I had the Kaffir tree for about 12-18 months. Your advice would be appreciated.
They are all curly, too. Check your growing conditions with this article below. Make sure the container has several holes and has well draining soil. Too much water can have this effect. Also check the leaves for aphids or scale insects. Curling leaves can also indicate a fungal infection. Here is info about treating with a fungicide.

I lived in the Philippines. I ordered a Kaffir lime plant online, however due to a very long period of travel (from the seller to my house) it took at least 7days until I got the plant. When the plant arrived, the plant doesn't have any leaves.
The darkness may have caused it to defoliate. It should leaf out again. Here is how to care for it:

It’s never had it before, it’s not powdery and it has lots of new growth.
Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I am unable to diagnose the situation fully. I will say that this sounds like scale. This insect will devastate your tree if so. Here is an article that can help:
