Hello I was reading some interesting blogg entries and I want to know if you can help me with something. I live in Costa Rica but my cousin lives in College Station, TX. For his birthday I want it to give him a little herb garden (more like some herb pots), like a little garden he could keep in his Kitchen. By any chance do you have some options regarding companies that may help me in that. Or if you have that service. Thanks a lot in advance.
We don't recommend products or vendors, but you do have options. The simplest is to buy packets of herbs, pots, and potting soil and let him plant his own. There also are tabletop herb-growing containers complete with grow lights. Those can get pricey.
These articles should help with ideas:

I looked at information on an anti dessicant product that is touted as non-chemical and non-toxic, but the safety sheet below says it can cause eye, skin and inhalation irritation. If a large amount is ingested, it can cause diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. I'm sure no one would be ingesting a lot, but the product label doesn't mention edibles, only ornamentals. It does wear off in 3 to 4 months if you can time its use. It is made of pine resin and other components that enable it to leave a protective film on the plant.

It seems that when I cut some herbs to use them, the main plant is not doing so well afterwards
Harvesting herbs depends on the particular plant in question. Many herbs will be harvested once, and others can be harvested over long periods.
