    This could be due to a few things. The first you want to address would be climate zone. Most grapes will have trouble in zone 9 unless you, specifically, have a variety that is meant for your area.

    The second thing to consider will be the sex of the plants. Grapes have separate male and female plants,usually, with some being both. With this being said, it could be that there are no females, or no males present to pollinate females. It could be that you have all males, and couldn't get fruit, as well. In the case of a plant with both parts- it could be lack of pollination, or the need for a second plant because of self-incompatibility.

    Unfortunately, there are other factors that could cause this, as well. This will be trial and error until it is solved.

    We don't make garden product recommendations, but the ties should not bind. They can be fabric, covered wire, plastic, etc., but should fit loosely so as not to restrict growth. The package should indicate that the ties are waterproof, strong and durable.
