GEUM CHILOENSE - Avens Benoite: I just found a tag in my garden for what I think is one of my "mystery plants." Is this a perennial? Thanks!
Thanks! But, I wasn't specific enough. I'd really appreciate a picture of the plant and its flower. Thank you!
Where would I buy them? I can only find prairie smoke
We do not offer information on where to purchase, unfortunately. I could recommend trying local nurseries, or online vendors like Amazon, Etsy, or Ebay.
We’re in Southern California and I’m not clear if creeping avens would grow here! Any ideas?
I'm afraid that your area is just a little too warm, or rather, does not get cold enough to support this plant. You may be able to grow these through winter, but once the temperatures rise into summer, you may notice the plant die off at a rapid rate.
Here is an article that will help you to know more about this plant:

my question asked the details I would like to know
We do not recommend specific places for purchase. I would try your local nurseries, or online. What I can do is offer information on growing the plant:

Invasive plant, I think it is a weed, about 18 inches tall with small yellow flowers
That looks like a Guem. There are many types, but this is likely a wild type. Here is an article that will give you more information on this Genus:

I am in zone 3 and have stored my Geum Triflorum (Prairie Smoke) seeds in the freezer for at least 8 weeks I planted some in milk jugs winter sown about 3 weeks ago. I also planted some in potting mix in my south facing window with dome on along side petunias and snapdragons of which came up this morning. Nothing from the Prairie Smoke yet. How long generally does it take for these seeds to germinate please? they are very expensive seeds. $1/seed. I only had 10 any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
The ones in the jug outside should come up in spring. One seed source said for the cold stratification to alternate between the refrigerator for a day, then the freezer for a day. Do this for one week, then plant 1/8 inch deep in pots and keep warm (70 degrees F) till germination. When seedlings grow to 2 inches, transplant in garden (above 50 degrees F.).
