Last year my cherry tree was overcome by Japanese beetles. This year although the tree looks alive it didn’t blossom. It doesn’t appear dead as the bark still looks like its living with its smooth and shiny texture. Two summers ago I removed multiple trees leaving just a peach tree and my cherry tree. Will my cherry tree produce fruit again? Is it from the beetles? Do I need more trees? How do I remedy this situation and have my cherry tree produce fruit? Right now it is an eye sore with no leaves or anything. Thank you for your time with this matter
Did you give it the scratch test to see if there is green underneath? That will let you know if the tree is alive or not. If it is, then you must figure out why it has not leafed out. I suggest contacting your local extension service for input.

Usually ants invade trees to feed on microscopic insects and aphids. Here's an article that will help you resolve the problem:

You may want to attack the ant problem from the other direction by spraying your trees to get rid of insects:

More often than not, these problems are caused by insects or fungs. Here are three articles that should be helpful to you:

I really would appreciate some advice regarding the growing of cherry trees at an elevation of 1100 meters (3,280 ft). Which 2 varieties of edible cherries would you recommend in order to cross pollinate at this elevation?
These articles should help. I don't see your location and you need to find out what grows well in your area. sweet cherries usually need pollinators. Sour cherries don't. If you are in the US you can find out from the local extension group. I can give you some recommendations for high elevation areas.

I have fed them with nitrogen, potash and manure, but every year the cherries reach the size of a large pea and then turn brown and fall off. Do you have any explanation for this. best regards Doug Watts
