Wre my blueberries bitter this year when normally sweet?
For sweeter berries, allow them to remain on the bush a little longer. Otherwise, they may not be fully ripened. Look for a dark navel when harvesting blueberries, not the color of the fruit. Blueberries with a reddish color aroundthe stem end are not ripe, and will be tart whereas those left on the bush to become fully deep blue will be ripe and sweet.
Also, it may help to raise the soil acidity. This article should help with additional suggestions: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/blueberries/lower-soil-ph-blueberries.htm
Should you plant two different "types/varieties" together, or will two of the same plant grow well? Are there certain requirements to keep the leaves from "fading out"?
Some varieties of blueberries do benefit from cross pollinating with other varieties. They tend to produce bigger and more plentiful harvests when cross pollinated.
I am not sure what you mean by fading out, but good air flow around and in the plants (due to good pruning) and watering low to the ground will help stop any fungus from attacking the leaves. Many fungus can make it seem like the leaves just slowly wither away, which is what it sounds like you are describing.
I've heard that blueberries only come from 'new wood'. Could you define new wood? Is it 0 to 1 year old, 1 to 2 years old, etc. ? Or is there only new wood from the previous season's growth?

I purchased blueberry plant from Chelsea flower show, but now all the leaves are very, very dry and dropping. I feed the plant with tomato plant food. PLEASE help me and let me know what should I do to save this beautiful plant. I would appreciate your help, as I am heart broken with this condition.
It sounds like it is not getting enough water. If it is in a container, it needs to be watered everyday in hot weather. If it has been planted in the ground, you will need to water it once a day for 1-2 weeks and then once a week for the rest of the season so that it establishes itself well.
I am building a blueberry garden and was wondering what specifically I can grow with blueberries (other berries, tomatoes, etc. ).

We have 2 varieties of blueberry bushes in our garden. Both were here when the house was purchased. One produces a large number of berries while the other has produced 0 berries this year. Should we prune the non-productive one harshly or should we remove it completely?

We have a blueberry patch of 27 bushes. They were loaded with berries this summer. In one weekend the berries turned mushy on the bush. In every one that I inspected, there was a prick hole. ??? The berries were beautiful one day, mushy - still on the bush - the next day. Do you have any ideas of why or what happened?
