What is skeletonizing my basil leaves and what can I do to stop it?
Japanese Beetles are most likely the culprit.
Look for them and pull them off.

I noticed this morning I have purple spots on my sweet basil leaves. I have sprayed fungus spray on them in the past. They were wilted yesterday and I watered them last night.
The purple coloring usually indicates a mineral deficiency.
I like to feed my herbs with a little Epsom Salt weekly.
I would caution you: carefully wash the Basil leaves now that you have treated them with a chemical before consuming.

I live in south Mississippi and I'm having trouble with my Basil. A flying bug dark in color attaches itself to the stalk only. If approached, they "jump' around to the back of the stalk. They leave the section of stalk black.
This sounds like the Flea Beetle.
I recommend Neem Oil as a treatment.
Row covers can be a deterrent.

What temperatures will basil tolerate? I live in South West Va. ; winters can be below freezing.
Basil is a rather short lived annual. You can expect it only to survive the summer and after that it will get woody. It is best to start a new plant for winter to grow indoors. Here are some articles to help you with your basil plant and future basil plants:

Something is eating my basil. There are holes in the leaves. Otherwise, the plant looks very healthy. Is there a natural pesticide I can use? Thanks for your help.
Slugs are the normal culprit for this. They can literally devour plants overnight and they love basil. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/facts-about-slugs-and-how-to-kill-garden-slugs.htm
So my basil has some black spotting/coloring on it. I am picking off leaves that do not have the color on it, and picking off the black area on individual leaves as well. Can I still eat the basil? Or if it has a disease, should I not?
This is most likely Bacterial Leaf Spot.
I would remove the effected leaves and if you can improve the air circulation around the plants that should help.
Avoid watering from above. I would not consume the effected leaves.
