Q.I planted maiden grass (variegatus) last fall, trimmed it to 4″ in early April. It is all brown with no green.
Is this grass a slow starter in the spring, or could the winter have killed it? I have 4 plants all look the same, all brown no green yet. We did have 3-4 days of -25 degrees where I live in zone 5 this winter. The card that on the plant says it can take -30 degrees. Thanks for any response.

It should be growing by now. It may not have had time to get established before winter. Did you have a dry winter? Lack of moisture while it was trying to establish could have over stressed it.
