Zoysia Grass Seed Germination

I have unidentified brown colored grass growing all over my lawn. They are about 8 inches tall in spots with seed pods growing on them. Is this the way Zoysia grass begins to spread and germinate? They started to grow in early April. Should I let the seeds continue to grow? I planted my plugs about two years ago, and now I see some growth. I have purchased Zenith seeds for another section of my lawn and already placed 8 yards of topsoil down. I am trying to shorten the length of time for my Zoysia to grow over my entire lawn. Am I going about this the right way?

I suspect the grass you see is poa annua, which is a cold germinating grass that would have seeds at this time. This article will have more information:

Planting the seeds should have it take over faster and the topsoil will help them establish well.
