Yucca Need to Kill (How)

A deck is being built over two yucca plants that I need to get rid of. Is digging out the only way? I heard roots are 4 feet long.

To kill it, cut it down as close to the ground as possible and then paint the fresh cut with concentrated Round-up. Keep an eye on it and if you see any shoots, you can repeat this process.
