yellow/black striped beetle eating chinese lanterns

I have a “field” of Chinese lanterns that did well for three years, then a beetle started eating the leaves gone and also started eating the lanterns. Could it be a cucumber beetle or potato beetle? In reading, I see that I could need to spray like in the spring for the larvae and even during the summer and into the fall. I understand later evening is the best to help protect the bees.

What product should I look for, as I would like to start now before the plants really start coming up? I’m in Minnesota.

Thanks

Was this your culprit, the false potato beetle (Leptinotarsa juncta)?

A natural bacteria, Bacillus thuringiensis, is useful as a non-toxic control or use a chemical spray with pyrethroid or spinosad.

If your pest is not the false potato beetle then please send a photo of the beetle for my analysis.
