Winterizing fig trees indoors

I brought it in when the leaves fell off and let it be. I watered it slightly and not again for a month. When I went to check on it, it had begun to leaf out again. And it’s only mid January. What do I do?

This is common with Figs; they will began to leaf out in late winter due to their internal clock.
Keep the tree in it’s current cold storage and apply only slight moisture. This will help slow the growth until it’s time to move it outdoors.
After danger of frost has past, move the Fig to a shady location for a few days to acclimate the tree slowly to the new light conditions.
Then move to a full sun location.
