Wintering Hibiscus Bush

I recently bought and planted a hibiscus bush at the head of a grave of one of my beloved pets as a marker. I live in central Louisiana and am wondering what ideas or advice you can give me for wintering it this year as the temps lower. We get a few days at 35 or below, but not too many. I was thinking a bed of pine needles and perhaps a tent of bisquine with a trim of the bush.

My condolences about your cat.

If you only get a few nights below 40 F, you can mulch heavily around the base of the plant once winter comes. The plant will lose its leaves but they will regrow once spring returns.
