Wilting tree in container

We have planted two small trees in separate large containers. Don’t know the name but we live in Mexico and the trees have small purple flowers. One tree is doing fine but the other is starting to wilt. We previously had a sunflower in the same container and it died. Could there be insects (grubs, etc.) in the soil? The container is metal and lined with black plastic, but there are drainage holes. Can you help?

If you used the same soil, it certainly could be contaminated with insects or a fungus.

Always use fresh sterile potting soil for container plantings.

Container plants will also need more frequent watering. Once a day and even twice daily if temperatures are above 85 degrees.

Use Neem Oil to treat the plants. This works as both an insecticide and fungicide.
