If you are growing hibiscus outdoors, you’ll need to grow the hardy variety, which is tolerant to Zone 5. If you have the tropical type, it will need to be grown in a container and brought indoors for winter.

These plants need plenty of sun, or bright light indoors. This article will explain the plant’s growing conditions: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/hibiscus/how-to-care-for-hibiscus-plants.htm [1]
