why was the orange solid on the inside

When cutting a small (slightly larger than a tennis ball) orange bought in Toronto, it was totally solid inside, consistency of pound cake. No juice. Tasted different, but not terrible. Other oranges have been OK from the dozen bought. Skin was regular thickness. No discoloration on inside or outside. No seeds apparent. Segments appeared to have wavy white skin lines ( Orange was cut into 8 segments). Orange felt about the same heaviness as the other oranges (orange wasn’t a navel or juice orange). Don’t know country of origin. Had oval, royal blue sticker on it with sticker on it “#3155”

I would say that was a bad orange in the lot. There are many reasons for dry orange fruit, which are discussed in the following article:
