Why remove pulp from Christmas palm seeds before planting ?

I have planted the seeds into buckets. Just covering the seeds, not deep at all. The germanation rate seems to be pretty good although I have no numbers.Seeds are planted when they start to fall off the bearing tree. Transplanted into planting bags when they are bearing 4-6 leaves.
I have not used the bleach wash. I plan to do it next planting.
Removing pulp seems a lot of work, is it really necessary?
Thanks for your advise.

The only concern would be the increased chance of infection from pathogens digesting the pulp. Other than this, with sterile practice, or proper conditions, the pulp poses little risk. Overwatering exacerbates this risk drastically.
