why my fig tree had just a few figs the first time?

I have a fig tree in my back yard close to the beach. It had a few figs the first time than had no more. What is wrong?

If this has been recently planted, or is a young tree, then this is normal. It can take several years before it will bear a significant crop.

Alternatively, there may be a deficiency, or a lack of pollination, if you do not have any of the wasps that are required for pollination.
