Why Does My Yellow Tropical Hibiscus Only Have One Stem As I Thought They Were Like A Bush?

It only has one flower on this stem every month or so which lasts about 3 days but I thought it would have more stems

If you cut off the top 2 inches it will then grow side shoots. Is it getting enough sun? They need full sun to grow and bloom well.
