Chinese lantern stays green

Why does my Chinese lantern stay green? My Chinese lantern does not go to the orange color.

I am not sure why this would be. One possibility is that they are not ripening, and thus not turning orange. This could happen if they don’t get enough light, or if the temperatures turn colder before they ripen- much like green tomatoes at the end of the growing season.
