Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI planted Craigella tomatoes and they are beginning to ripen. The skin is splitting open before I can pick them. These are small tomatoes (2″ d. ) and the split is wide enough to ruin the fruit. Why is this happening and what can I do to prevent it?

This is called cracking. In mild cases, the skin cracks as the tomatoes grows and heals over. It is safe to eat. In more severe cases, the tomato will split open entirely. This article will help:
