Why Are My Tomatoes Getting Black Bottoms And Some Are Splitting

My tomatoes aee growing beautifully in large pots with drainage. The vegetables are beautiful until they get to a given point just before ripening and they develop large black bottons. The smaller tomatoes are splitting. we water as needed and feed about every two weeks.

Something is locking out calcium and magnesium. This is a deficiency of calcium, but can be related to magnesium deficiency as well. This will be the only cause of blossom end rot in tomatoes.

The splitting is caused by improper watering habits.

Make sure that you test your soil's pH and nutrient content before feeding, so that you can be sure that you are adding the proper nutrients at the proper time.
