why are my figs turning brown and falling off?

Why are my figs turning brown at very small size and falling off? Leaves are turning brown also. I have Brown Turkey figs growing in large containers. I water every day, as we are having a dry spell. The leaves are turning yellow and it’s only August. The figs are ripening at 1/2 to 1 inch size and then dropping. This is the first year I have had this problem.
