What’s the most effective way to rid my lawn of ants

What’s the most effective way to rid my lawn of ants. . .the small reddish ones? Have tried sprinkling Sevin powder over all ant hills but when some go dormant, new ones always pop up. Recently have had potted plants on my porch become infested with these ants, who are now trying to get into my home. None inside yet since I sprinkled the Sevin powder on the perimeter. Help, they are climbing onto hummingbird feeders and anything else I haven’t treated with Sevin.
