What’s the Best Way to Fertilize Hanging Basket Tomatoes?

I read your article about fertilizing tomatoes before planting and about 6 inches, but it didn’t mention about tomatoes in hanging baskets. Could you be specific on this?

For plants in containers, I recommend a slow release fertilizer (like Osmocote) on top of the soil, if using chemical fertilizer. If you are organic, when you mix the soil for the container, mix in a good amount (maybe 1:3 or 1:2) of compost to soil. A little bit of rotted manure is good as well, but not too much as that will cause big plants with few fruit.
