What plant is this?

So today my family and I had finally went in the backyard to tucker out our dog when we stumbled across this plant. According to one of my family members, it did not sting to the touch, although it was quite prickly. So, does anyone know what sort of plant this is?

This is a thistle weed.

You will want to remove these from your garden.
Gloves will likely be necessary!
