What Makes Crepe Myrtle Leaves Sticky

The leaves on my crepe myrtle are very sticky. Is this a sign of bug infestation?

Yes, it is a sign of insect infestation. But, there are several possibilities as to which kind (scale or aphids are most common). Examine the tree closely to find the culprits and treat with a pesticide.
