fertilizer for hebe plants

What kind of fertilizer should I give my hebe plants? They are only a year or two old. Since they are still called young plants, can I give them a fertilizer I use for roses or 16-16-16?

Although the shrub doesn’t need much in the way of fertilizer, you can apply some once a year in late winter or early spring prior to new growth. If you do use fertilizer, choose one for acid-loving plants (like azalea, gardenia, etc.).
