They resemble some species of legume root nodules, or a tuber of some sort. I don't really recognize these off-hand, but seeing the area around the spot that you are finding these might help me to get an idea of the plant life nearby. You might try sprouting it in a container, as well. That might help you to identify, exactly, what it came from.
