weed

It’s some kind of speedwell I think. Prostrate plant with tiny leaves and tinier white flowers. What I read is all about lawns but this is not in a lawn – it is in walkways and about to invade shrub bed with azaleas. I am afraid to use 24d because of the azaleas. Can I kill them with a torch?

You may need to do the torch treatment more than once but yes you can use a garden type torch to get after them, especially in the walkways. What I do is to go over them quickly with the torch one day, then the next day hit them with the torch again for a longer time so as to burn out the now scorched and drying foliage. Keep a safe distance from all preferred growth/plants and keep a close eye on where the flame is directed. If distracted, shut the flame off so as not to accidentally wave it in a wrong direction. Also, do not use the torch on walkways that are made up of plastic covered decorative pavers.
