bone meal

We have just planted a bare root hedge but did not put any bone meal in the soil before the weed repellent membrane was put down. Can we dissolve the bone meal and water it in so that it will be absorbed through the membrane?

Phosphorus in bone meal is not water soluble. This is why it is recommended to mix bone meal into the soil when planting so plant roots will grow into the bone meal and use phosphorus as needed.
