We have a small front garden near the house consisting of earth and containing a tree and various plants. One of two holes

have appeared recently in the earth, about 3 inches across, appearing mostly at night..there is no sign of rat or mice droppings.. Any ideas? We have noticed earth has been disturbed near the fence next door which adjoins our garden.

It could be from squirrels or birds looking for food. Other possibilities include voles or ground squirrels. This article will help you pinpoint the animal that is invading your yard:
