Watering Spider Plants, Can They Sit In Water?

I’ve had one particular spider plant for at least 10 or more years. It is not a drain pot. It is quite girth to the edges of the pot. So I don’t know how much water is inside it. I water it if not daily every couple of days. Sometimes I can see the water in the pot and sometimes I cannot. Is is okay to let it sit in water? There has never been a problem. In fact, over the past year it must have at least spiderettes, and so I’m prably due to put posts near the mother and let some of them grow in their own pots once they begin to grow groots. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Normally, no, they shouldn't sit in water. But if yours has lasted 10 years in that environment, it is compensating somehow . It's possible you only water a small amount and it is not pooling in the bottom of the container.

You could change the container for one with drainage holes if you are concerned. I also would change the frequent light watering for more deep watering less often (if you change to a new container).
