Victoria Plum Tree Now Producing Small Bright Yellow Plums

An established Victoria plum tree was producing large purple plums until last year. This year the same tree has produced a huge crop of small bright yellow plums. Has it reverted to root stock?

I would say so. At some point, it began suckering limbs from the rootstalk, which eventually took over the tree. Here is more:
