Varieties of forsythias

I have several forsythias. They have long shoots. Almost resemble a cane pole, shooting out 8-10ft. into the air. Prolific blooms, but the plants look obnoxious. My neighbor has a forsythia hedge. The variety he has doesn’t have the long shoots. It’s just a nicely shaped hedge. Never see him prune it. What are the different varieties? I like the way his looks and would like to purchase this type. Thank you….Bruce
