Type of Squash

I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I have no idea what was planted in a garden that I gladly inherited! I have a viney type squash plant with ‘fruit’ approximately 2/3 the size and shape of a football (at this time) with very light colored greenish skin. What is it? When do I harvest it?

Can you send us a picture? This would be more helpful in identifying the plant variety you have.
