Tulips/Daffodils

Planted some tulips and daffodils last fall in a row/bed at the same time, same method of planting, and same location, but only half (almost exactly half) of the row came up. I dug down in the empty spot and there are no rotten bulbs or signs of any ever having been there. What could have happened?

I would suspect that rodents have been feasting on your bulbs. Chipmunks, squirrels or mice are the main culprits for this, though almost any common rodent in your area will do this. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/bgen/protect-flower-bulbs.htm [1]
