Tree Similar to Pussy Willow

In a pot with a gifted lilac tree was another unknown tree. It grew so much faster than the lilac, so we separated them. The unknown tree is like 25 feet tall. It is about 10 years old. This year it is covered with pussy willow type growths…gray fuzz over tiny light green balls under the fuzz. Not perfectly shaped balls. Originally someone said it was a laurel tree, but have never seen a picture of one with pussy willow type growths.
